    • Not sure about Bangkok.... I've been to Chiang Mai and Kanchanaburi, though.

You can get around using tuk-tuks and the red vans. Tuk-tuks are more expensive, but more fun to ride in. Make sure you haggle the price with the driver before boarding.

For the most part, they speak English, but if you're gonna do a lot of bargaining, I suggest bringing a small calculator to indicate your price to them.

Otherwise, Thailand is a generally safe place to be in, just exercise the same level of discretion and safety as you would when visiting any foreign country.

    • Yes, Bangkok People speak English. The first thing you do upon arrival is get a free map from the airport .The map will tell you what you need to know from changing your currency to Accomodations and sight seeing attractions. If you are going there on a weekend dont miss Jatujak the weekend market and if you are looking for action at night then go to Pat Pong or Soi Cowboy

If you watch the movie Tomyum kung then you might want to avoid taking one but in my opinion Tuk Tuk drivers are skillful and their reflexes on the wheel is incredible.

where exactly do i get this map?? you have to be precise, cos you're talking to someone who has never travelled on her own before.

which makes me wonder what business i have trying to go on this free&easy trip with an equally clueless brother... -____-""

I am going this coming Saturday and will be there until Wednesday...

This map should be helpful to help you plan your trip...

And if you want to know how to get around using the BTS (somewhat like the MRT we have in Singapore), here's the BTS map: BTS

Damn, I found out that we are staying in hotels which are like opposite one another...when are you going again? Maybe can meet up if you are going next week...

The nearest BTS to your hotel should be N1, Ratchathewi.
