  char: No, it's not a BIOS function. It's a Windows "recovery" function, which sometimes actually works.

  char: I just checked--you need to press and hold the F8 key while the laptop is booting. Not the F2 key.

  when u were booting, quickly press your F8 or F2 or whatever... dun let the lappie boot fully... must intercept halfway while it is booting then it will prompt you to choose safe mode

  BTW, you're not the only one to experience problems just after installing SP3. A coupld of my friends ran into similar problems after "upgrading" to SP3.
